NBC’s new season of “The Voice” kicked off with a huge start, as the four coaches took to the stage together to perform a cover of an Aretha Franklin classic and “Hold on I’m Coming.” Sam & Dave.

The Monday, September 20, 2021 episode featured the very first appearance of new trainer Ariana Grande.

The first performance hit all the right notes for seasoned fans and new fans alike with the first performance which started with John Legend and Blake Shelton performing together, then Grande took the stage with Kelly Clarkson to sing “Respect”.

The performance took place at the start of the show and Grande said she was delighted to be there before taking the stage. She can also be seen hugging Clarkson and giving Shelton her cowboy hat to wear before it happens.

Audiences have been shown going wild for the act, which has been a theme in many interviews this season.

Once the female coaches took the stage, the song switched to “Respect” and they both had the chance to show off their enormous vocal range.

By the end of the performance, the four coaches were on stage together doing a mashup and looked like they were having the best time of their lives. Grande then gave Clarkson and Shelton a hug before the video ended.

After the performance was posted on YouTube, fans took to the comments section to express their glee.

“Kelly and Ariana are absolutely amazing and Kelly’s lineup is out of this world,” one person commented.

Another wrote: “Kelly’s rendering on [American Idol] got him this show BUT it takes it to a whole new level! The depth, resonance and range are incredible.

“Ariana is literally in her rn game. No one does like her! She’s the voice of this generation for a reason, ”commented another.

One person said it was one of their favorite performances.

“This performance definitely goes into my recorded ‘Greatest Performances’ videos so I can watch it again every day. The energy exchange between you all is wonderful and so much fun to watch. Ariana – when you say,’ But guess what … ‘oh goddamn girl. I had to rewind and review about 40 times,’ they commented.

During an interview with ET Online, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson spoke about why they thought Grande was a threat when it came to season 21 of “The Voice.”

“Of course she is a threat! The legend told on the exit. “She is extremely talented, hugely successful, and has legions and legions of fans who know how to use the Internet and how to vote.”

That being said, he added, “There is definitely a learning curve. But it presents itself as a formidable adversary.

Clarkson jumped on it.

“There is nothing wrong with being Ariana Grande,” she insisted. “She can’t tell. I will do it.”

“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
