This week’s college playlist is beauty and fashion journalist Francie Ebert.
Ebert (first year journalist) said that his love of music runs through all aspects of his life.
“Music has always been an important part of my life,” Ebert said. “It sounds a bit dramatic, but music has helped me reach new heights in my running, my relaxation, my productivity and my thinking.”
Describing his playlist, Ebert said his taste was “in all areas”.
“I’m drawn to alternative indie, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Keys and the Arctic Monkeys, because growing up that was all my dad really listened to,” Ebert said. “I also like some famous artists today, including Drake, Mac Miller, J. Cole, Brent Faiyaz and Jack Harlow.”
1. “Howlin’ for You” by The Black Keys
Ebert said her father had a big role in the types of music she enjoys.
“The Black Keys remind me of the rides I used to do with my dad when I was a kid,” she said. “This song is so upbeat yet passionate.”
2. “Power Trip” by J. Cole (with Miguel)
3. “Snow (Hey Oh)” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
4. “Feel No Ways” by Drake
5. “505” by Arctic Monkeys
6. “Pride. Is. The. Devil” by J. Cole (featuring Lil Baby)
“I like the style of music today, but sometimes artists seem to wear some of the same tunes in all of their songs,” Ebert said.
Rap is a Genre Ebert says she notices “a tendency toward repetitiveness.”
“Drake – on the other hand – I feel like he brings a new style to every one of his songs,” she said.

Although Ebert’s playlist is upbeat, she said she always likes to add more relaxed songs to her playlist.
“I often find myself chilling with jazz and Fleetwood Mac,” Ebert said.
11. “She Knows” by J. Cole (with Amber Coffman and Cults)
12. “One Dance” by Drake (with WizKid and Kyla)
13. “Self Care” by Mac Miller
14. “Keep It Light” by Jack Harlow
15. “The Confidence” by Brent Faiyaz
“After finishing school work or just getting into some relaxing headspace, I’ll turn on Brent Faiyaz,” Ebert said.
Although she loves most of his songs, Ebert said “Trust” was her absolute favorite.
“I love this song because I admire the person who showed it to me,” she said, “and [Faiyaz’s] the voice is so angelic.
