So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We are updating a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

TEI SHI – “BAD PREMONITION”

“I wrote ‘Bad Premonition’ at a time when I felt really lost and disappointed in my experiences trying to ‘succeed’ as a musician and in the music industry,” Tei Shi said of her new single, a slick pop track. “I felt like I found myself in the same place over and over again in my life – in my career and my relationships. These toxic situations reoccurred every time I tried to start from scratch. When I wrote the song, I was in the process of realizing and coming to terms with the fact that I’ve encountered the same impasse many times before. It’s about that feeling of impending doom, where you see where you’re headed, and it’s not good, but there’s nothing you can do about it – so you kind of resign yourself to a fate, you know. There’s something mystical about the song, and I wanted reflect that in the lyric video – that idea of me coming back to warn me of what lies ahead, but not being able to stop or change anything.”

SARAH MARY CHADWICK – “ALL THINGS WE NEVER DO”

Singer Tony Croasdale said: “This song was inspired by the cover photo of the September 2014 issue of Popular Science showing Bill Nye in a boxing pose with his hands wrapped. I work as a science communicator and Bill Nye has been a great inspiration to me. I wonder how he manages to stay cool in the public eye in this age of science denial. This song spins with the obvious pun and imagines what could happen if he snapped and let out decades of frustration. We hope it’s clear that no one is meant to be killed in the video, just kidnapped and forced to listen to the IPCC report read in its entirety. The messy bow tie at the end is an intentional artistic choice to represent Bill Nye’s denouement and has nothing to do with no one on set knowing how to tie a bow tie. Bill Nye is welcome to use this song as walkout music for his next debate. It’s the least we can do.”

The older I got, the funnier I was. “I’ve learned that trying to understand can sometimes do more harm than good and you just have to admit that you don’t understand or don’t understand and say what you feel. So this song is just a long way to say to my friends that I love them.
