Syracuse NY – For the second year, CNY Jazz will present a special family vacation by singer and actress Sally Ramirez, “Songs from The Heart / Canciones del Corazón”. The family show will feature Sally and her accompanist Doug Robinson, who will perform traditional holiday songs from around the world. The live production is scheduled for December 8 at 7 p.m. at the Jazz Central Theater and will air simultaneously for virtual in-home viewing. Additional 7 p.m. shows will be available to stream from December 15 to 19.
Ramirez is a singer, actress, teacher and vocal coach whose music spans the spectrum from jazz to Renaissance to folk. A seasoned national performer, she has performed across the country in musical theaters, operettas and jazz venues. Now actively performing in upstate New York as a musician and actress, Sally has appeared on television in The Young and the Restless and American Family. She has appeared in Syracuse in the Jazz at the Cavalier series in recent years.
“Sally can literally do anything, in terms of singing in multiple styles and languages,” said Larry Luttinger, her CNY Jazz host. “She is also good at jazz, bossa nova and other styles of Latin and world music, pairing perfectly with Doug’s virtuoso accompaniment on classical guitar. We’re so happy to be able to bring her here for a live show, because last year, out of necessity, she appeared virtually.
Participants are encouraged to bring traditional “old school” board games or UNO decks to this or any other December show at Jazz Central. They will be donated to the Joe Family Foundation for Disability Advocacy for distribution at their “Home for the Holidays” distribution event hosted on December 21 by the 1199 SEIU and the Greater New York Hospital Association. Games must be complete, new or used. For more information on this event, contact Latoya at 315-640-0015 or Nadia at thejoefamilyfdn@gmail.com.
Ticket holders must show proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours of the performance and remain masked in the theater unless eating or drinking. Children under 12 are encouraged to provide proof of vaccination, but are not required to do so if accompanied by fully vaccinated adults.
