Please tune in for the next All This Jazz broadcast, starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday 27 — here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM) and online via the live broadcast on PublicRadioTulsa.org.
In the first half of our program we will remember the late trumpeter, composer and conductor Kenny Wheeler, recently deceased at 84, and for decades one of the most interesting and accomplished musicians on the British jazz scene. We’ll also hear wonderful music from the SFJAZZ Collective (with the ever-so-fine Renee Rosnes on piano) and Michigan clarinetist Dave Bennett (whose latest CD has a decidedly goodmanesque title: “Don’t Be That Way”).
And in the second half of All that jazz, our theme for the second hour will be “Autumn” – that glorious “season of mists and sweet fruitfulness”, according to poet John Keats, who arrived on Monday 22 … and who will hopefully stay with us, somehow still as sweet, as long as possible. Thus, we will hear excellent jazz treatments of standards like “Autumn Leaves” and “Autumn in New York” and “Early Autumn”.
And much more! Join us!
(The fine print: All This Jazz airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10 p.m. to midnight. We always have a replay of the show afterwards at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is the whole of our station. jazz HD Radio channel. Each week we spin modern jazz, both new and classic, across a range of styles. And the second half of our program, starting at 11pm, invariably has a theme. Also, for those of you who wish: All This Jazz now has a Facebook page. Thanks so much for listening.)
