Justin Moore will likely have his 11th No. 1 hit soon, this time with the sweet “With a Woman You Love.” The song, from an upcoming new album, was written by Moore, along with Paul DiGiovanni, Chase McGill and Jeremy Stover. For a man who made a successful career out of songs like “You Look Like I Need A Drink” and “Why We Drink,” the song could be seen as a romantic departure for Moore, but he says it’s really fair. showing him another side of who he is, as husband, father and artist.
“Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, is that softer side of you or whatever,'” Moore said. All Nash. “Early on in our career, I think the first love song we released was ‘Til My Last Day’. And I remember being a little anxious about releasing it, because we hadn’t done that yet in our career. And I think that was on the second album that we released ‘Til My Last Day.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know if people want to hear that from me, or if it will work.’ And I don’t know if we’ve released a love song that hasn’t been number 1 now, so it’s kind of fun to see people react to the different types of music we put out, including songs from love.
It was actually Moore’s wife, Kate, who suggested he consider releasing a romantic tune, advice he wisely discerned he should heed.
“Actually, Kate, my wife, 10 or 11 months ago said, ‘You know, you haven’t released a love song in a long time.’ It’s been a bit. We’re celebrating 15 years of marriage this year. And we just celebrated 20 years together. So I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll release it for you,'” he adds. laughing.
Moore’s debut single, “Back That Thing Up”, was released in 2008. Since then, the 38-year-old has amassed hit after hit, including ten previous chart-topping singles. It’s a success that Moore admits he sometimes still struggles to grasp, while sometimes it’s a vision that inspires him to keep working as hard, if not harder, than he did. at first.
“It’s crazy; it’s the 15th year we’ve been doing this, so I almost feel like we should have more,” Moore concedes. “But every day is different. I’ll look up and say “I can’t believe this has happened, or that we’re doing this right now.” The most surprising thing to me is that it’s our 15th year… I can’t believe it .
Moore is determined to continue writing, recording and performing, while giving herself well-deserved credit for how far she’s come and the trajectory of her ever-growing career.
“Obviously the fans have been wonderful to us, but I remember going out with a bunch of guys and girls, and there are only a few of us who do that on that particular level now,” recalls Moore. “Other people are very successful in other ways, but it’s pretty amazing, really.”
Moore credits not only his fans, as well as his unstoppable work ethic, but also the people he has surrounded himself with, including his record label, Valory Music Group, from the start.
“I was very lucky that my team around me was really, really great,” boasts the singer. “And my label, to be honest with you – you hear horror stories from other artists about what they’re up against on their label. And I’ve been with the same label my entire career. The fact that they kept working hard for me…Especially when I came out, the radio sounded like a thing. And then in the middle of my career, he completely changed and did something completely opposite to what he had started in. We leaned into our music a little bit, but we never really jumped off that edge and said, ‘Hey, we’re going to pursue this because it works.’
“And the fact that country radio has stuck with me during this particular time is a huge reason why I continue to do that,” he adds. “Now it’s kind of gone back to what we do in terms of how music sounds on the radio. But that says a lot about the relationships we were able to build.
