So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music we’d call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We are updating a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

SPICES – “BAD FADE”

As mentioned, Ceremony is SPICE’s new album. Long live drops next week (5/20) via Dais, and here’s another taste: the booming indie rock great of “Bad Fade.”

QUELLE CHRIS – “SO TIRED YOU CAN’T STOP DREAMING” (ft. NAVY BLUE)

The new album by Quelle Chris DEATHFAME drops this week, and here’s new single “So Tired You Can’t Stop Dreaming,” featuring jazzy production from Quelle Chris himself and a guest appearance from haze-rap pioneer Navy Blue.

THANK YOU, I’M SORRY – “PARLIAMENTS”

Thank you, I’m sorry are currently working on their second album, due out in 2023, and in the meantime, here’s the dreamy indie rock of new single “Parliaments.”

HORSE JUMPER OF LOVE – “THE NATURAL PART”

Horse Jumper of Love has shared the title track from their upcoming album natural part (due 6/17 via Run For Cover), and this one has a kind of trippy, lo-fi, slowcore vibe in the vein of stuff like The Microphones and Duster.

ALESSANDRO BARIS – “NIVAL” (ft. LISA PAPINEAU)

Bologna musician Alessandro Baris released a song in collaboration with Lee Ranaldo last year, and now he has one with Air/M83 collaborator Lisa Papineau, whose airy vocals pair beautifully with the shimmering electronic instrumentals. by Alessandro.

HEADIE ONE – “CAME INTO THE SCENE”

British rapper Headie One has released his first song of 2022, “Came In the Scene,” and he finds his exercise ominously catchy in top form.

TOPS – “JANET PLANET”

Montreal TOPS release their new EP, Free placestoday and also shared the video of the sweet and inviting “Janet Planet”.

FIME – “GOLD WHITE COLLAR”

Fime, whose members also played in Jay Som’s backing band, have announced their debut album sweeter memory, produced by Jay Som. It’s out July 1 via Forged Artifacts, and it’s an anthemic track that transitions from mellow alt-country to a roaring emo/post-hardcore banger.

HUNNY – “QUICK DIAL”

HUNNY from LA has announced a new EP, Homesickdue July 22 via Epitaph, and new single “Speed ​​Dial” sounds straight out of the late ’90s/early ’00s punk/power pop crossover era.

ALTAIR – “VERY RAW”

Madrid shouto band Altair release new album Siempré habrá luces en otro luga on May 25, and you can taste the caustic yet beautiful sound of new single “Tres Cruces.” Talk to IDIOTEQthe group says: “I wanted to talk about uncomfortable situations, conversations that go nowhere and the fragility of these kinds of friendships, to force myself to think about my words, to be kind and to feel like I was shaping my personality because of that. How unreal it is to socialize like that, useless situations.”

JOY OLADOKUN – “PURPLE HAZE”

“Purple Haze” isn’t a Jimi Hendrix cover, but a sweet dose of Americana inspired by the Los Angeles fires, as Joy Oladokun explains: “I wrote ‘Purple Haze’ when I was Los Angeles after a few wildfires, and I noticed the sky wasn’t the color it should be. It made me think about the world we live in and all the information we get on a daily basis. almost feels like we might be on the verge of extinction as a species, but there are wonderful things like family, friends, partners, dogs – things that inspire us towards beauty and excitement. Even if it all ends, the experience was worth it.”

DANIEL VILLARREAL (DOS SANTOS) – “PATRIA”

Daniel Villarreal of Dos Santos will release his first solo album, Panamá 77, on May 20 via International Anthem. “This album is an affirmation of both my origin story and who I am today,” says Villarreal. “I see my life and my music as a collaboration of improvisation and intention in a spirit of community and joy.” “Patria” is playful in a vintage way, sounding radiant from an unspecific year in the past.

GENTLE SINNERS (ARAB STRAP, TWILIGHT SAD) – “LANDFILL”

Gentle Sinners, the duo consisting of Aiden Moffat of Arab Strap and James Graham of The Twilight Sad, will release their first album, These actions cannot be undone, this Friday via Rock Action Records. Taste now via “Landfill” which has the kind of gravitas you’d expect from members of two Scottish weight bands.

MEDICINE SINGERS – “SUNSET” (FT JAIMIE BRANCH, THOR HARRIS)

The Medicine Singers’ self-titled debut album will be released via Stone Tapes/Joyful Noise on July 1 and here’s another song from it. “Sunset” features a notable cast of collaborators including Jaimie Branch, Yonatan Gat and Thor Harris with production from Ryan Olson and Ikue Mori. Although it starts out in very traditional powwow territory, things get crazy and rowdy by the end.

OOG BOGO – “PLASTIC” (PRODUCED BY TY SEGALL)

LA band Oog Bogo have announced their debut album, Plastic, which will be released on July 1 via Ty Segall’s God? Records (via Drag City). Ty produced the album in his Harmonizer studio and now you can sample the merchandise with the album’s title track which wears a glamorous, artsy and full mantle of rock spectacle.

DOMINGÆ – “CHANGE” (ANIKA COVER)

Sacred Bones Records is celebrating their 15th anniversary this year and as part of it they are releasing Todo Muere SBXV where current artists on the list cover other songs from the SB catalog. Domingae made Anika’s “Change” unrecognizable.

DEAN HURLEY – “OUR DAY WILL COME” (GARSON DEATH COVER)

Also from Todo Muere SBXVDavid Lynch collaborator and Twin Peaks sound designer Dean Hurley covered Plantasia “Our Day Will Come” by creator Mort Garson.

INSTITUTE – “BOYS AT SCHOOL” (SPELLING COVER)

One more than Todo Muere SBXV: Institute delivers a rumbling cover of SPELLLING’s “Boys at School”.

JULIA JACKLIN – “LYDIA CARRIES A CROSS”

Julia Jacklin will release a new album PRE PLEASURE August 26 via Polyvinyl. (Pre-order on white vinyl.) She made the album in Montreal with co-producer Marcus Paquin (The Weather Station, The National) and a backing band consisting of Ben Whiteley and Will Kidman of The Weather Station, plus drummer Laurie Torres and saxophonist Adam Kinner. Owen Pallett did the string arrangements.

EZRA FURMAN – “FOREVER AT SUNSET”

Ezra Furman is releasing a new album We all Flames on August 26 via ANTI. It was produced by John Congleton and is the third album in the trilogy that began with 2018’s Transangelic Exodus and continued with 2019’s Twelve Nudes. The new single is that anthemic synth-rocker.

WOMBO – “BACKFLIP”

Louisville, KY trio Wombo announced a new album, Rust Fairy, which will be released on July 29 via Fire Talk. The band claims that the album was influenced by the classic fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm as well as other fantastic works, through their own style of edgy, post-punky indie rock.

YOO DOO RIGHT – “THE FAILURE OF STIFF AND TIRED FRIENDS”

Montreal trio Yoo Doo Right will release their second album, One Whisper, boundless in the East, June 10 via Mothland. The band is named after a song by Can, and their love of motorik komische grooves and proggy textures remains front and center, as it did on their excellent debut album.

SHYGIRL – “FIREFLY”

British experimental pop singer and rapper Shygirl has announced her debut album, Nymphand you can read more about the first single “Firefly” here.

FAIRWEATHER – “UNTETHERED”

Fairweather, one of the most unique and often underrated bands of the emo boom of the early 2000s, announced the Flood EP, their first release in eight years, and you can read more about the stunning single “Untethered” here.

THE BURNING PARIS – “GENTLE KINDNESS” (STARFLYER 59 COVER)

Boston post-rock band The Burning Paris have reunited, and their first new recording in nearly 20 years is a cover of “Softness Goodness” for an upcoming Starflyer 59 tribute album. Learn more here.

CAVE IN – “RECOGNITION”

Cave In’s new album heavy pendulum comes out next week, and here’s a fourth single. They also announced a tour with Author & Punisher, including a NYC show presented by BrooklynVegan. All dates and more info here.

STELLA DONNELLY – “LUNGS”

Australian indie musician Stella Donnelly has announced her second album, Flood, and released the propulsive piano pop of lead single “Lungs.” Learn more here and grab the album at opaque red vinyl.
