Geoffrey took “leave of absence” during episode 9 of season 1 of “Bel-Air”

The Banks family went to church together and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) kicked off the sermon with his rendition of Marvin Sapp’s “The Best In Me.” However, his voice cracked halfway through and the lacrosse player ran off the stage, apparently having a panic attack.

Will (Jabari Banks) later checks on his cousin, who anxiously reveals his story. Plus, Hilary (Coco Jones) still hadn’t told her parents the whole truth about her broken contract. Meanwhile, Aunt Viv (Cassandra Freeman) has met some council members who invited her to the scholarship. While she wanted to accept, the artist was unsure if she could meet the job requirements.

Geoffrey (Jimmy Akingbola) secretly gave Will information about his father but warned the teenager of the drama it could cause. Consequently, he told Uncle Phil that he would not pursue him, unknowingly straining the relationship with Geoffrey further. The aspiring DA confronted his Head of House, who admitted he would protect the family, even if it meant going against Uncle Phil. Not wanting to raise questions, Geoffrey opted to take time off when his boss fired him.

Shortly before the debate, Lisa (Simone Joy Jones) learned of Will’s arrest and confronted him before warning her boyfriend that his father was planning to use him against Uncle Phil. In response, the patriarch opted out of the race to care for his family and encouraged his wife to accept the scholarship offer.

Episode 10 is the season 1 finale of “Bel-Air”

Next week ends the first season with its series finale. The episode title and description have yet to be released. But that will likely include the fallout from Uncle Phil’s decision to step down from the political race and the aftermath of his relationship with Geoffrey.

Also, Aunt Viv will probably accept the scholarship position. As Carlton claimed he drained the rest of his meds after his conversation with Will, the next episode will likely explore him looking for other ways to deal with his anxiety.

It could also feature the repercussions of Hilary breaking into her former house of influence to steal her stuff, as her family will likely find out the truth behind her breach of contract.

Finally, Lisa apparently dumped Will after finding out about his arrest. The finale will likely cover where their relationship stands, ahead of the next season if renewed. Bel-Air airs Thursdays on Peacock.
