Love makes the world go round … and it also helps sell music. Whether the best love songs are overwhelming classics that could make a generation of babies, or are a nauseating love song, we can’t get enough of these tunes.
Of course, cheesy love songs can still be really good too!
Cheese is the best food group, so cheese doesn’t always mean bad. I’m not going to deny my absolute love for Chicago’s nerdy love song “You’re The Inspiration”, or that I know all of the words from Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is”, which I frequently dedicate to my boyfriend.
Damn, I’ll be openly sharing my love for Phil Collins’ “Groovy Kind of Love,” which was my wedding song (although I’m divorced now, so maybe it’s bad luck now).
The point is, while the lyrics to cheesy love songs make us cringe, they are classics that have defined certain periods of our lives.
Whether it’s the tastiest love song of all time – which is hands down “All Out Of Love” by Air Supply – or the most beautiful love song ever written – “I Will Always Love You ”by Dolly Parton, of course.
The fact remains that not all of the songs in our music collection are the ones we would proudly blow up from our cars. We might, in fact, secretly love them singing the lyrics in private or despise their sweet loathing. (This is especially true with the powerful ballads of those cheesy ’80s love songs.)
